Ranking the 10 Best Kickers in the NFL Today

ree

The NFL season is nearly upon us! In just six weeks, the season will kick off in Philly with the Eagles hosting the Cowboys. With Justin Tucker no longer on an NFL roster, he is no longer considered the top kicker in the league. Tucker has been recognized as the best kicker since 2016, especially after setting the record for the longest field goal (66 yards) against the Lions in 2021. Now that Tucker is no longer at the top, we present the rankings of the best kickers in the NFL! Here are the top kickers in the league!

  1. Will Lutz (Broncos)

Starting at number 10 is Broncos kicker Will Lutz. Last season, Lutz successfully made 91% of his field goal attempts. Since 2016, he has been a reliable kicker in the NFL. While playing for New Orleans, he maintained about a 90% success rate on field goals until his final season in 2022. The Saints traded Lutz to the Broncos in 2023, which has proven beneficial for Denver. Last season, Lutz became the fifth fastest player in NFL history to surpass 1,000 points. Interestingly, Lutz began his career with the Ravens in 2016. His career-long field goal is 55 yards.

  1. Daniel Carlson (Raiders)

Next on the list is Daniel Carlson, who is no stranger to this ranking. Over the past few seasons, Carlson has been among the best kickers in the NFL. From personal experience, he has also been one of the top fantasy football kickers in recent years. While he may not be quite at his peak, the two time All-Pro remains an excellent kicker. Drafted by the Vikings in 2018, Carlson has exemplified consistency since joining Oakland/Vegas. In 2024, he successfully made 85% of his field goals and 91% of his extra points, with his longest field goal at 54 yards. Last season, he made 77% of his field goals from beyond 50 yards.

  1. Brandon McManus (Packers)

Number 8 is Brandon McManus. McManus, a Super Bowl champion, is preparing for his second season in Green Bay. Although he faced challenges in recent years, he regained his form in Green Bay last season. After being accused of sexual assault in 2024, the charges were dropped by the judge, and he was signed by the Packers. Green Bay hoped he could replicate his performance from his time with the Broncos. He delivered as expected, making several game-winning field goals, including one in his first full week with the Packers when they narrowly defeated the Texans. The Super Bowl-winning kicker is ranked as the eighth-best kicker in the NFL!

  1. Jason Saunders (Dolphins)

Jason Sanders has consistently been a reliable figure for the Miami Dolphins, recognized for his composed nature and powerful kicking ability. Following an All-Pro season in 2020, Sanders has continued to demonstrate moments of exceptional skill, particularly during critical times. He excels in warm climates and has a talent for making long-distance kicks. Despite some past inconsistencies, his resilience and experience establish him as one of the most dependable kickers in the AFC.

  1. Harrison Butker (Chiefs)

Harrison Butker ranks sixth on this list. Although Butker can be a somewhat controversial kicker, he remains included here. As a three-time Super Bowl champion, he is recognized as one of the most reliable postseason kickers in recent history. Despite missing a few games last season due to injury, he performed consistently well. Renowned for his smooth mechanics and mental resilience, Butker rarely falters in crucial moments. Whether it's a 50-yard kick in the fourth quarter or a game-winning attempt in the playoffs, he has proven to be dependable. He led the league in scoring in 2019 when the Chiefs secured their first of three Super Bowl victories.

  1. Jake Elliott (Eagles)

Jake Elliott has steadily emerged as one of the NFL's most dependable and consistent kickers. Renowned for his composed demeanor and powerful kick, Elliott has successfully made several 50+ yard field goals in high-pressure situations. His precision, particularly in critical moments, has been a significant advantage for the Eagles. With an impressive career field goal percentage and notable playoff achievements, Elliott remains among the top kickers in the league. He is now a two-time Super Bowl champion.

4. Chris Boswell (Steelers)

For almost ten years, Chris Boswell has been among the NFL's most reliable kickers. As a key player for the Steelers' special teams, Boswell is known for his range, consistency, and calm under pressure. He excels in cold-weather games, performing well in challenging conditions that unsettle many other kickers. Boswell's seasoned experience and steady performance have earned him great respect in the league.

3. Jake Bates (Lions)

Jake Bates emerged unexpectedly and quickly made a significant impact with the Detroit Lions. Renowned for his powerful leg, Bates successfully kicked several 60-yard field goals during the preseason and maintained that level of performance into the regular season. He has provided much-needed stability to a position that had been uncertain for Detroit. If he maintains this level of performance, Bates could become a prominent star kicker in the NFL for many years.

2. Cameron Dicker (Chargers)

Known as "Dicker the Kicker," Cameron Dicker has shown that he is more than just a catchy nickname. Since assuming the kicking responsibilities for the Chargers, he has demonstrated exceptional accuracy and composure in high-pressure situations. Whether it's standard extra points or critical field goals, Dicker consistently performs. Despite being in the early stages of his career, he exhibits the confidence of an experienced veteran and is among the most efficient kickers in the league.

1. Brandon Aubrey (Cowboys)

The top kicker in the NFL is Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey. Aubrey's journey has been remarkable. As a former soccer player with no college football background, he has rapidly become the NFL's most accurate kicker. Even if Tucker hadn't been released, Aubrey had already surpassed him as the top kicker, especially with his outstanding season. Last preseason, Aubrey successfully kicked a 66-yard field goal against the Raiders. In 2024, he set records for consecutive field goals made at the start of a career and confidently made multiple kicks from beyond 50 yards. His ability to remain calm under pressure and consistently deliver exceptional performances has established him as the benchmark for NFL kickers today.
